FlixFilm was established in 2005 and is run by Derek Bateman.
Derek Bateman started working in the British Theatre after leaving school as a crew member at the Newcastle Playhouse in 1982, He left in 1986 as crew chief to work as a Freelance Stage Manager and Production Manager. After many successful years of touring with companies like The Royal Shakespeare Company, Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet he moved over to Television, Video and Film in 1990. He worked on many commercials and music videos, then started working for BBC Drama and BBC Education as a Production Runner. Several promotions later he left the BBC in 1999 as a First Assistant Director to move to Norway.
In Norway Derek worked Freelance on several large scale Television Commercials before going back to school and studying Documentary Photography at N.I.S.S in Oslo, in which a Documentary about the Fredrikstad Based Artist Art Ranger was shown at various festivals worldwide.
Since leaving school and setting up FlixFilm Derek’s work has been varied, with sometimes going back to his roots and working in Theatre. His clients for video work include DNB, TELENOR, Sparebank1, Leger uten Grenser to name a few. His work has been nominated for Sølvtaggen.
Today FlixFilm produces TV commercials, information films, Training Community, Intranet and Instruction videos for companies for use on Television, Cinema, DVD/Blue ray distribution and the web
